Question of the Day #1

What are you ashamed of?
#QOTD #ShadowWork

Yep! I came in hot with the first question of the month.

Shadow work isn’t for the faint of heart. Asking yourself difficult questions helps you get to the root of things which allows for peace.

Everyone has something to be ashamed of. They may not admit it to others or themselves but it’s there. No one wants to stare at their shame in the face – even if it means growing in understanding of the self. However, there are those who get to know their shame so the healing can begin.

Think of all the times you were ashamed of your choices, your actions, your words, your situations. Be truthful with yourself and go as deep as your pen will allow. Understand, this is not a time for judgment and criticism. This is a time for compassion and patience.

Don’t overthink. Write down the first things that come to mind. Don’t cross anything out. Just keep going until you run out. Go as deep and as far back in your memory as you can.

Once you have completed your list, take some time away from it. Come to grips with what you must while recognizing how you’re feeling.

When you are ready you are going to ask yourself, “Why am I ashamed of…” plugging in each statement from your list one by one. This can be done over time. I wouldn’t suggest going into it immediately considering some of the things on the list may not be too flattering in your eyes.

Remember, show yourself grace.
