Hey there, beautiful ones! Let me share with you the extraordinary story of my uncle, an exceptional man who left a lasting imprint on my life. Uncle Cad, as we affectionately called him, had a unique way of connecting with me. He always left out the N and A in my name, making our bond that much more special. But what truly set him apart was his favorite catchphrase, “Now, we’re cooking with oil,” a saying that never failed to crack up my husband and brighten our day.
Growing up, Uncle Cad was a man of many talents. He worked for the prestigious Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News, which meant that on every Sunday, like clockwork, he’d arrive at our doorstep with a newspaper in hand. For my sisters and me, that newspaper was a treasure trove of joy, for it meant we could dive into the colorful world of the funnies.
What made Uncle Cad truly exceptional was his unwavering support and encouragement. In a family where judgment sometimes ran wild, he was a constant source of positivity. He saw my potential and never hesitated to nurture it. He didn’t see my flaws; he saw possibilities. And for that, I’ll forever be grateful.
Last Thursday, Uncle Cad passed away. While it’s natural to feel sadness at such a moment, I couldn’t help but smile. He had lived a full life, well into his 90s, and his spirit was as lively as that of a young man. The thought of him joining the ranks of my ancestors who have guided me throughout life brought me comfort.

Ancestral Guidance: The Creative Catalyst
As creators, we often underestimate the wellspring of help that can flow from our ancestors. They possess a wealth of knowledge and experience that, when tapped into, can elevate our creations to new heights. I appreciate the wisdom and encouragement my ancestors have provided, but having Uncle Cad as part of my team has lit up my life like never before.
His spirit remains a constant presence in my daily life. I hear his voice, cracking jokes, and lending his signature touch of sarcasm to my conversations. It’s a beautiful reminder that our loved ones who have passed on can still be instrumental in our journeys.
If you’re a creator, don’t underestimate the power of connecting with your ancestors. They can help you overcome your limiting beliefs, provide insight, and offer guidance. But remember, it’s essential to approach those who are willing to assist and have no unfinished business in the realm beyond. You wouldn’t want to upset anyone or seek aid from those who still require healing. But that’s a conversation for another day.

Honoring Our Ancestors and the Creative Spark
In this new season of life, I hold my uncle’s memory close to my heart. I celebrate his spirit, and I’m grateful for all my ancestors who walk with me. I extend my warmest wishes to your ancestors as well. They are a wellspring of wisdom, and their presence can be a guiding light in your creative endeavors.
So, dear creators, remember that your ancestors are your helpers in your creative journey. Reach out, ask for their guidance, and be open to the magic they can bring to your work. Their energy and support can truly make a world of difference. And as always, remember, I love you. 💙
