Hey there, beautiful ones! Today, I’m going to talk about something that’s really personal – my history of kidney stones.
Since 2004, I have battled with kidney stones. In fact, in 2012, the doctor found a staghorn kidney stone, which is one of the largest stones you can have. Between 2012 and 2016, I had 9 surgical procedures to clear it.
Even though I went through all those surgeries, the stones still persisted in both kidneys, and it left doctors baffled. They didn’t know what was causing them. So, every year since the surgeries ended, I would pass at least 1 to 3 stones a year.
The Truth Revealed
It wasn’t until earlier this year that when my husband and I went to an herbalist, we found out what was really causing the kidney stone issue.
The kidneys are connected to anxiety and the fight or flight response. The more of anxiety, the more the stones accumulate.
While this was welcomed information, I was still unsure if I would ever be rid of these stones that plagued my body for so many years.
Ironically, as I traveled along on my healing journey, I began passing stones more frequently. Instead of the normal 1 to 3 per year, I was dropping that amount every month. It became apparent to me that because I was facing the things I used to run from, my body was finally releasing the stones from my kidneys. I’m rarely anxious these days, and my body is responding.
A Teachable Moment
I tell you this story because as I write this, I am laying down, passing yet another stone. Although this one is the worst I’ve felt so far this year , it means it’s pretty large, or there are multiple passing at one time. I’m in a lot of pain, but as you know, I am determined to write a blog post for 365 days. Today is Day 173.
This was a perfect teachable moment. What you deal with or hide from mentally and emotionally can affect you physically. When you heal emotionally and mentally, your body will follow suit.
If there are any chronic issues that you are dealing with, it may mean there are things on a mental and emotional level you need to explore. I believe in you. And remember, as always, I love you. 💙
