Hey there, beautiful ones! Today, let’s dive into a topic that takes us back to the classic tale of “The Ugly Duckling.” Surprisingly, my inspiration for this comes from my recent readings of “Women Who Run With Wolves,” a treasure trove of folklore and tales delving into the intricate tapestry of a woman’s psyche.
As I embarked on the ugly duckling’s journey within the pages, a flood of childhood memories rushed back, and I found myself resonating with the lost and lonely feelings the little duckling experienced. It was like a nostalgic trip down memory lane, back to those awkward glasses-wearing days where I, too, felt like the odd one out.

The Journey of an Ugly Duckling
Growing up, I was the poster child for awkwardness, with thick glasses and a penchant for being labeled as weird. My own family, including my sisters, made me feel like an outsider, even suggesting I was adopted because of my distinctive quirks. The dimples that others found attractive became ammunition to reinforce my differences.
Desperation to fit in led me down a path of questionable choices, hoping for approval but only finding myself alone, licking my wounds. This ugly duckling syndrome persisted into adulthood, infiltrating even my first marriage, where the in-laws took jabs at me during every gathering, and my husband found solace in the company of other women.

The Healing Journey: Finding My Tribe and Inner Beauty
Despite the challenges, my journey didn’t end there. I continued navigating through life, seeking acceptance at every turn, only to find temporary refuge in tribes that were not truly my own. It wasn’t until my healing journey commenced that I stumbled upon genuine connections where my quirks were celebrated rather than ridiculed.
Through self-reflection and growth, I began to see the beauty not only in my reflection but in the person I had become over time. Just like the ugly duckling’s revelation when he gazes into the water, I, too, had an awakening. No longer needing to force myself into dubious situations for approval, I found that a simple smile was enough for the tribe I’ve attracted.
For all you “ugly ducklings” out there, it’s time to embark on your healing journey. When the snow melts and the pond thaws, be ready to look at your reflection and be amazed by the beauty that stares back at you. I believe in you, and always remember, I love you. 💙
