Drowning No More: The Power of Don’t Worry About a Thing

Hey there, beautiful ones! Life is a rollercoaster, and for the longest time, I was stuck in the loop-de-loops of anxiety. Picture this: me, a bundle of nerves, worrying about everything and everyone around me. But guess what? I found the secret sauce to break free from the anxiety chains, and it all started with a mantra – “Don’t Worry About A Thing.”

Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, and My Playlist for Peace

A few weeks ago, I caught myself slipping back into anxious tendencies. There I was, perched in my parents’ sunroom, anxiety looming like a dark cloud. And then, like a musical epiphany, Bob Marley’s voice echoed through the room, singing, “Don’t worry about a thing ’cause every little thing is gonna be alright.” It struck me like a lightning bolt. The key to keeping anxiety at bay? Stop worrying, even about the little things.

So, what did I do? I started humming “3 Little Birds” by Bob Marley as I moved around the house for the next few days. The Universe wasn’t finished with its playlist, though. Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing” danced into my mind. It was crystal clear – I needed a worry-free playlist. Cue “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin and “Don’t Worry About Me” by Frances. Now, anytime anxiety tiptoes in, I hit play and get back into gear.

Drowning? Nah, I’m Floating Down the River of Life

Living in the present is a challenge, especially when you’ve spent ages dwelling on the past or fretting about the future. But here’s the thing: feeling anxiety, understanding it, and deciding not to worry is a game-changer. I’m no expert; I slip up sometimes. That’s when my playlist becomes my lifeline.

Worrying does nothing for me, I realized. So, I made a choice every day – not to worry about anything that couldn’t be changed immediately. And let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer. Amazing things are happening, and it’s all because I chose to flow with the river instead of drowning.

In the grand scheme of things, worrying about the past or the future only leads to depression and anxiety. I’ve been there, labeled with Bipolar Disorder, but I refuse to let it define me. I might still be bipolar, but I don’t have to let it control my narrative. That’s a story for another day, though.

So, here’s a gentle reminder: the moment you start flowing with the river is the moment you stop drowning. Think about it. I believe in you. And, as always, I love you. 💙
