Scaling Life’s Peaks: A Journey through Self-Care Mountains

Hey there, Beautiful Ones! Let’s embark on a metaphorical mountain climb together, exploring the twists and turns of self-care. Imagine the peaks and valleys, the plateaus and inclines – each representing a unique facet of your personal journey.

The Wilderness Base: Six Years of Therapy Exploration

My journey with self-care began like navigating the wilderness around the base of a mountain. Picture six years of therapy as a slow, meandering incline through dense trees. Therapy acted as my guide, helping me ascend and providing support as I faced the challenges of the climb. It was a necessary traverse to reach the first significant milestone – a beautiful plateau, previously unseen from the base.

The Plateau Revelation: Realizing the Work Ahead

The plateau was calming, but it marked a realization – the real work lay beyond its serene expanse. It was a moment of reflection before the impending climb to the summit. Mentally and emotionally, I stood at the crossroads, understanding that what I desired was at the top of the mountain. Peaks and valleys awaited, and at times, the urge to descend lingered. Yet, the determination to reach the summit kept me going.

The Expert Climber’s Mindset: Facing Mountains with Poise

While I may not have physically climbed a mountain, mentally and emotionally, I consider myself an expert climber. The past year is often hailed as the beginning of my healing journey, but truth be told, it commenced in 2017. When faced with the absence of a therapist and no immediate replacement, I made the choice to continue the climb on my own. My therapist and other guides assisted at the start, but the challenging segments became my solo conquest.

Climbing mountains used to evoke fear and uncertainty, but now, with poise, I face each one. Why? Because I’ve learned that it’s not just about the climb; it’s about the lessons awaiting on the descent. The journey shapes me, molds me, and teaches me resilience.

Your Healing, Your Choice: Climbing Mountains Beyond Wednesdays

Don’t be wary of embarking on your personal mountain climb. It might begin with the assistance of guides – therapists, friends, or mentors – but the real work is yours to do. Healing isn’t confined to Wednesdays at 11 a.m.; it should accompany you everywhere you go. If, like me, you lack access to a therapist, trust yourself. Grab a journal and start asking the questions. Be your own therapist because, in those honest conversations with yourself, lies the key to genuine healing.

I believe in you, fellow climbers! Remember, as you ascend and descend, I love you! 💙
