Hello, beautiful ones! Today, let’s dive into a topic that’s near and dear to my heart—standing on your own. Now, I know what you might be thinking: “Standing on my own? Seems pretty simple, right?” Wrong. If you’re anything like me, standing on your own can stir up a whirlwind of anxiety. Let’s explore this journey together, shall we?
The Struggle of Standing Alone
Growing up, I had a hard time standing on my own. This wasn’t just about literal standing, like being on stage or answering questions in class. It was about standing up for myself in all aspects of life. Performing was a huge part of my childhood—not because I wanted to, but because it was expected of me. This led to severe performance anxiety, so intense that I would hyperventilate at the mere thought of being in front of a crowd.
But it wasn’t just about performing. I also struggled with being myself around others. People thought I was odd. I wore thick glasses and my clothes weren’t exactly high fashion. And to top it off, I came from a well-known family, which only added to the pressure. The thought of standing on my own was terrifying. It meant facing judgment and criticism, and none of that felt positive to me.

The Isolation of Not Being Alone
Another part of my struggle was the fear of being alone. This fear led me to befriend people who weren’t necessarily good for me. I stayed in friendships and relationships that were toxic because I was more afraid of being alone than of the negative impact these relationships had on me. This fear was a heavy burden, and it prevented me from truly standing on my own two feet.
This fear of standing alone and being myself created a vicious cycle. I relied on others for validation and support, but because these relationships weren’t healthy, I never felt truly supported or validated. It was a lose-lose situation, and breaking free from it seemed impossible.
The Triumph of Self-Reliance
Fast forward to today, and I’m proud to say that I now stand on my own. It wasn’t an easy journey, but it was necessary. I’ve learned that no one is going to protect me or speak up for me except myself. No one can express my experiences or feelings but me. And no amount of friends or external validation can make me feel good about myself. That, my lovelies, is an inside job.
Standing on your own can be a scary place, especially if you’re used to shrinking into the background or hiding behind others. It’s a place that forces you to confront feelings and fears that you’d rather ignore. But here’s the thing—standing alone is also the most empowering place you can be. No one can represent you like you can. You are your greatest asset, but the world won’t know that if you don’t step up and show it.

Embrace Your Greatest Ally: You
So, my lovelies, I urge you to stand on your own. Let go of the crutches and the fear. Embrace the discomfort and know that it’s part of the process. You are your greatest ally, and you owe it to yourself to stand tall and proud. It’s not an easy journey, but it’s the most rewarding one you’ll ever undertake.
Remember, standing on your own doesn’t mean you can’t have support. It means that your primary source of strength and validation comes from within. It means you trust yourself enough to take risks, to fail and try again, and to keep moving forward no matter what.
As you embark on this journey, know that you’re not truly alone. We’re all walking our own paths, but we’re also part of a greater community of souls striving for self-awareness and growth. So, stand tall, my friends. You’ve got this.
Until next time, keep shining and stay true to yourself. I believe in you. And remember, as always, I love you. 💙
