Rainy days have always inspired me. None more than a rainy Saturday.
Why?
On Saturdays, most people have come off a long work week. Usually, the day is set aside for chores and things not done throughout the week. Other times, it’s a day for being lazy, and not need to adhere to the rules of a work environment.
For me, a rainy Saturday is peaceful. There’s no hustle and bustle of the neighbors leaving for work. It also means no lawnmowers or weed-whacking sounds. Also, children are stuck in the house watching cartoons (Do children still watch cartoons on Saturdays?).
A rainy Saturday is quiet with the only sound being the rain as it hits the ground. There are the random sounds of birds chirping which points to nature’s resistance to weather in an effort of being.
On days like these I love to read. It’s actually the perfect atmosphere for it with the rain playing lightly in the background. It’s calming and soothes my soul.
A good book on a rainy Saturday is my idea of a wonderful day. Sure, going outside would seem to be something I’m missing, but honestly, I prefer to stay indoors. I guess it’s the dilemma of being an introvert.
I implore you, the next time you experience a rainy Saturday, to pull out a good book. Spend the day immersed in another world or learning something new. You will be amazed by what the seemingly dreary weather allows you to feel – peace and calm.
What do you like to do on a rainy Saturday?
