What character have you been playing?

It’s time for the Question of the Day. So, get your pen and journal ready.

We all have played a character or two in an effort to assimilate. It’s easier to be someone else rather than ourselves in those scenarios. But what good is it doing for our mental and emotional health.

An example of a character is the well put together businesswoman who doesn’t take any guff. Another example is the ladies’ man who exudes confidence and charisma. Both are playing a role in the theater of life but the odds are there are things under the surface outside of the character being played.

You may not notice you are actually playing a character. It may be you believe your character is actually you. I’ll give you a hint to knowing if you’re playing a character or not. If you feel you have to be or act a certain way in ANY given environment, you are playing a character. If you are your natural self without feeling the need to be or act a particular way, you are living authentically.

Take your time with this one. You may be playing more than one character but that’s okay because it’s all about awareness,

Remember, be kind to yourself by showing compassion and grace. Feel whatever feeling come up in an effort to understand and accept them.
