Question of the Day #20

Why do you feel you need to be right or wrong about everything?

#QOTD #ShadowWork

Get out your pen and pull out your journal. We’re answering a trick question.

Today’s question is an either-or.

There are two kinds of people. There’s one kind who can’t be wrong about anything. There’s another kind that can’t be right about anything. Or so these kinds of people think.

Along the road of life, we got to the point of being one kind of person or the other. The person so desperate to prove they are right or the person so easily believes that they are wrong. Both stem from the same place: other people not believing in what they say or do.

We were told at some point in our lives that what we had to say was invalid in one way or another. We were told that enough it became a part of our narrative. Whether we argue tooth and nail to prove we are right or surrender to the guilt of being wrong, we continue to appease the narrative we’ve allowed to be created for us.

It’s time to figure out how you got on either side of this spectrum and why you are still there. I bet you didn’t realize this was even a problem. That’s how ingrained this narrative has become for you.

Take your time and really think. How did things get this far?

Remember, show yourself grace and compassion. Feel the feelings in an effort to move past them.
