The opposite sex. It can be a touchy subject for some, for others it may seem of no consequence.
We all deal with the opposite sex differently and there are many reasons for this. It could be our personal experiences, the experiences of others, or the generational issues between men and women. Regardless of what you identify as your reasoning for how you deal with the opposite sex, I can almost guarantee the relationship is dysfunctional.
There has always been this “battle of the sexes” since before we all existed. Depending on our experiences, this battle could be imagined or very, very real. Our reality is there are deep-rooted issues when it comes to the subject of the opposite sex and how we view them.
In many situations, the relationship with the opposite sex comes in direct conflict with our relationship with our own sex. We will judge ourselves and our situations based on a collective view of the sexes.
You may view an entire group based on your experiences, choosing not to separate them. Or you may view yourself more harshly based on collective opinion. Then again, you may be biased because of what you’ve witnessed in another’s life.
Whatever your relationship, now is the time to question what it is and what it means for you at this moment. You may find that your feelings are connected to something you no longer think about or realize exist.
Once you answer this question, in its entirety, ask yourself why your relationship is what it is. Continue to ask yourself “why” until you run out of answers.
Remember, show yourself grace and understanding. Be completely honest with yourself. Feel the feelings in an effort to move past them.
