The Prized Possession of My Past

Hey there, beautiful ones! Let’s dive into a nostalgic trip down memory lane, a journey back to the days when looseleaf paper and a trusty pencil were the keys to my personal heaven. Yes, I was that kid who wrote all the time, crafting little stories and poems in my cherished composition books. But there’s one notebook that holds a special place in my heart – a royal blue, spiral journal adorned with a misty white dragon on the front and its tail on the back.

In the epic saga of my 12th-grade year, this mystical journal became my constant companion. I carried it everywhere, filling its pages with the poetry that echoed my thoughts and feelings. It was my solace in days of solitude, my confidant in a world that often felt too big for a young dreamer like me.

Mourning, Moving On, and Embracing the Writer Within

Now, brace yourselves for a plot twist. Into my first marriage it went, still brimming with the poetic expressions of my soul. But, alas, a tragedy struck! Miraculously, my then-husband stumbled upon its contents, and poof! The mystical journal vanished from my life. It was a loss that left me speechless, and for a while, I lost my voice. My words seemed to evaporate into the ether, and I struggled to find that intimate connection with writing that once flowed effortlessly.

The journey back to my writeful place wasn’t a straight line. I attempted to recapture the essence of those days, but it never quite felt right. It was like trying to fit into a pair of jeans from high school – nostalgic but uncomfortable. It wasn’t until I acknowledged the need to mourn the loss of that dear journal that I found my way back.

Fast forward to today, and my pen dances across pages with a newfound vigor. I have not one, but two companions in my creative exploits – a daily journal and two dedicated books, one for the novel I’m crafting and another for the spontaneous bursts of poetry that demand expression.

Remember, my beautiful one, you can be attached to something from your past without letting it dictate your present. That mystical dragon-adorned journal held secrets, feelings, thoughts, fears, and aspirations. I honor it by being the writer I am today, weaving tales and sharing my heart with the world.

So, whether you’re reclaiming lost passions or embracing new ones, know this: the past shapes us, but it doesn’t define us. I believe in you, and remember, as always, I love you! 💙
