Road Trippin’ Down Memory Lane

Hey there, beautiful ones! As I gear up for my grand 2024 adventure, a symphony of excitement and nerves plays in the background. You see, this year, I’ve set my sights on traversing different states within the US and even crossing international borders—cue the drumroll! Now, if you’re wondering why this feels like a monumental leap, let me spill the tea: I’ve never traveled alone beyond the cozy confines of a quick trip to and from Maryland. Yes, I know, I’m breaking free from my comfort cocoon, and it’s about to get wild!

The Gospel of Wanderlust

As I embark on this thrilling solo travel journey, I can’t help but take a detour down the lanes of nostalgia. Rewind the clock to my youthful days, where every summer unfolded as a road trip extravaganza. But one trip in particular comes to mind.

Picture this: my family and I, cruising through 10 states in the name of gospel music. My parents, members of The Revelations choir, embarked on a summer tour that would make any wanderlust enthusiast green with envy. To spice things up, the director concocted a young prodigy group, starring yours truly, my sisters, and other kids of the musical members. We were the opening act, singing our hearts out in countless churches and sharing the stage with The Revelations. Talk about a childhood highlight reel!

Now, why does this journey down memory lane matter? Well, for starters, it’s not just about the music; it’s about the places we visited, the people we met, and the unexpected attractions that left us awestruck. A 12 or 13-year-old me, gallivanting across multiple states during summer vacation, had more stories than a library. It’s these memories that now wrap around me like a warm blanket, easing the butterflies in my stomach as I embark on this new adventure.

Lightning Strikes Twice: Finding Comfort in the Unknown

One vivid memory stands out like a neon sign against the backdrop of my childhood travels: the first time I witnessed lightning touch down. Equal parts terrifying and mesmerizing, it became a metaphor for life’s unpredictability. Fast forward to my adult self, and here I am, ready to face the unknown, armed with the comfort of those lightning-lit memories.

So, dear reader, as I dive into uncharted territories, let’s take a moment to reflect. In times of fear and uncertainty, there’s always a reservoir of joy in our past experiences. Whether it’s the echo of childhood laughter or the taste of a summer adventure, these moments serve as lifebuoys in the sea of change. Let the happy whispers of your past guide you as you step into new spaces, and remember, you’ve got this! I believe in you. And remember, as always, I love you! 💙
