Hey there, beautiful ones. Today, I had to take a step back and really put myself in check. You know those days where you just feel annoyed, but you can’t quite pinpoint why? That was me, all day long. I blamed it on being tired or maybe not taking my usual me-time morning walk. But deep down, I knew there was something more to it. And then, like a slap in the face (or maybe a gentle nudge, depending on how dramatic you’re feeling), I realized what was going on.

Anticipating the Future, Missing the Present
Here’s the deal: I’ve been so focused on my upcoming move that I had completely cut myself off from my hometown. Outside of my daily walks around the neighborhood, I hadn’t ventured out beyond my own perimeter. And let’s be honest, there’s a good reason for that. But still, my move isn’t happening overnight. It’s going to be a while before I’m fully settled into my new home base. The annoyance I was feeling wasn’t about my hometown; it was about me and my own impatience.
I’ve been living in this weird limbo, where I work, go for walks, and occasionally see a friend or two—but that’s about it. But when I visit my new home base, I am as free as a bird, floating around the place, meeting new people, and exploring everything I can. It hit me that I’ve never really done that here in my hometown, either because I felt hindered in some way or because I didn’t want to rock out on my own. Instead of living in the moment, I’ve been holding off until I can escape. Not exactly the best way to live, right?

A Reality Check for the Ego
It all boils down to this: my ego got too big for this place, so it started looking down on it. But the reality is, I have a lot to be thankful for here. I have friends, memories (both good and bad), and a city that isn’t as bad as I sometimes make it out to be. Sure, I might have to travel back and forth for a while, but that doesn’t mean I can’t live my life here in the meantime.
This was a wake-up call for me. If I’m going to preach about living in the moment and embracing life, I need to do the same. Even if I know something amazing is on the horizon, it doesn’t mean I should ignore what’s happening right now. Awareness is key. If I stayed stuck in my egoic mind, I might have missed the simple joys of today.
Embrace Where You Are, Right Now
So, my beautiful ones, if you’re anticipating something big in your future, remember this: acknowledge it, take the steps to accomplish it, but don’t forget about what you have in the process. Live in the moment, because life is happening all around you, even when you’re stuck in anticipation mode. I believe in you. And remember, as always, I love you. 💙
