Hey there, beautiful ones. This morning, my mother said to me, “Why are you walking hunched over?” Honestly, I hadn’t noticed. I replied, “I am?” to which she responded, “Well, straighten up. You don’t want to arch your back like that.” Now, in another time, I would have taken this exchange as unsolicited critique, ready to defend my posture and ego. But in this time and space, I simply thanked her, became more aware of my walk, and noticed something I hadn’t realized before.

The Past: Hunched Shoulders and Low Self-Esteem
Back in the day, I used to walk hunched over and stare at the ground, like a turtle peeking out of its shell. Low self-esteem, lack of confidence, and a general sense of “don’t look at me” permeated my being. My posture reflected my inner turmoil; the slouching, the lack of eye contact—it all screamed, “Please, don’t notice me!”
But those days are (mostly) behind me. These days, I’m more confident, choosing to look straight ahead, head held high. Yet, every now and then, I catch myself slipping back into that old habit. It’s like my body keeps some of those old insecurities in storage, ready to pop out when I’m not paying attention.

The Present: Adjusting the Posture and Addressing the Load
When my mom pointed out my hunched shoulders, I knew I needed to check myself. If I was walking like that, maybe something deeper was happening—some unaddressed burden I was carrying on my metaphorical and literal shoulders. I took my morning walk, consciously correcting my posture and talking through what might be weighing me down. Was it my workload? My personal goals? The excessive consumption of anime series? Whatever it was, I knew I had to figure it out.
As I walked and corrected my posture, I felt my shoulders relaxing. I began to understand that when responsibilities feel like burdens, it affects not only our minds but our bodies. The trick is to reframe our perspective. If we view our responsibilities as burdens, we create anxiety, uncertainty, and a general reluctance to get things done. And who needs that kind of stress?
The Future: Keep Your Head High and Your Shoulders Back
So, my beautiful ones, remember this: if you want to stay on top of your game and live your best life, you need to check your posture. Both physical and mental. What are you carrying around that feels like a burden? How can you reframe it to make it feel more like an opportunity? When you straighten up—literally and figuratively—you’ll find that you can tackle anything with confidence and grace.
I believe in you. And remember, as always, I love you. 💙
