Hey there, beautiful ones! We all have our vices, don’t we? Especially after a long, demanding day. We reach for that glass of wine, a pint of ice cream, or whatever other crutches we’ve grown accustomed to in an attempt to relax and unwind. Well, for me, I’ve slowly but surely let go of most of my vices over time. Instead, I now lean on things that bring me joy and peace, things that nurture my mind, body, and spirit after dealing with the daily grind.
And let me tell you, my favorite thing to do after a long day is go for a walk. I know, I know—it might sound simple enough and perhaps even a little crazy to some of you who are thinking, “Wait, you wanna walk after a demanding day? All I wanna do is collapse into bed!” But trust me, walking does wonders for me.
Living in an area with a two-mile stretch of nature, where the scenery is stunning and the air feels fresh, makes it even better. As I stroll along, I listen to the different types of birds, each with its own song. It’s almost like they’re serenading me. The flight patterns of the birds are a sight to see, and it’s calming to watch them glide gracefully through the sky. I also find joy in hearing the breeze as it rustles through the trees. The sounds of nature have a way of soothing my busy mind.
But what makes it truly special for me is the fact that I can usually enjoy these walks in silence, with minimal distractions and hardly any people around. It’s just me, the birds, and the wind. No hustle, no bustle, just stillness.

Meditation in Motion: A Walk That Heals
Here’s the thing—meditation isn’t just about sitting cross-legged with your eyes closed and your hands in a prayer pose (although that can be wonderful, too!). Meditation is really about stilling your mind, allowing yourself to release the chaos, and being open to the universe’s messages. That’s why I consider my walks a form of moving meditation.
After a long, hectic day, or even before one begins, those walks are my sacred time. I aim for two walks every day, one in the morning and one in the evening. But let’s be real—life doesn’t always work that smoothly, and I’m not always able to hit that target. But I try, because these walks bring me peace, and that’s something I’m determined to make room for.
Substituting Vices with Healing Habits
Now, I get it. It’s easy to turn to vices when you’re feeling drained or stressed. Whether it’s food, drinks, or mindless scrolling on your phone, those habits can provide quick, temporary relief. But let’s be honest—how long does that feeling last? Not long. And often, those habits end up leaving us feeling even worse, both mentally and physically.
I’m not here to judge anyone for their vices because trust me, I’ve been there. We all have our moments. But I just want to share what works for me, and maybe it’ll inspire you to consider swapping out some of your own habits with something that truly nourishes you. Nature walks, for example, are so simple but so powerful. They help me unwind, reset, and connect to something greater than myself.
Think about it—before all the modern distractions and vices took hold of our lives, our ancestors relied on simpler ways to relax and reconnect with themselves. Sure, life was different back then, but nature was just as healing. And it still is. The complexities of the world around us don’t mean we need to drown ourselves in distractions that detach us from the present moment. It’s easy to get swept away by everything around us, but sometimes, all we need is to step outside and breathe in the peace of nature.

The Magic of Nature’s Transmutation
Walking in nature has a unique ability to transmute negative energies into positive ones. Whether you’re dealing with stress, frustration, or worry, stepping into the fresh air and listening to the sounds of life can help you let go. I’ve found that nature has a way of absorbing the lesser energies I carry and transforming them into a sense of calm and renewal.
Not only does walking help me clear my mind, but it’s also a great form of exercise. It’s good for the body, good for the soul, and, most importantly, it helps me think calmly through challenges that might otherwise overwhelm me. It’s during these walks that I often find clarity—whether it’s a problem I’ve been mulling over or a new idea that’s been lingering at the back of my mind.
Let’s Leave the Old Habits Behind
I urge you, beautiful ones, to find something that brings you peace after a demanding day. It doesn’t have to be a walk—it could be anything that helps you reconnect with yourself and ground your energy. Maybe it’s a creative outlet, a book, or a warm bath. Whatever it is, let it be something that nurtures you, rather than something that leaves you feeling empty.
Let’s start leaving behind the bad habits and cultivate new ones that truly serve us. We deserve that. I believe in you, and I’m cheering you on as you discover what brings you peace and healing in your own life.
And remember, as always, I love you. 💙
