From Grounded to Soaring: How My Quote Took Flight

Hey there, beautiful ones! Let me take you on a little journey back in time, to when I was a teenager coming up with random thoughts about life. One quote I came up with still sticks with me today: “If the sky is the limit, why are you still on the ground?” Sounds deep, right? I thought so to the point I slapped that tagline onto my writers’ coaching business when I first launched it 15 years ago. The phrase meant something to me back then, but if I’m being totally honest, I wasn’t really directing it to anyone else… it was meant for me. Yep, it was a bit of a “wake up and get moving” pep talk to my younger self.

I’ve always had a habit of getting stuck in my head, hesitating to move forward, or even doubting myself. That quote was my own little nudge, a reminder that I needed to stop letting fear keep me grounded and start reaching for more. But then, life happened, and I decided to take a sabbatical from my business. The quote got buried somewhere in my mind, forgotten for a while… until it resurfaced later in my life, during my healing and spiritual journey.

The Sky Isn’t the Limit—It’s Just the Beginning

As I deepened my self-awareness and spiritual growth, that old quote suddenly came to me again, but this time, it felt… bigger. Why is the sky the limit? Seriously, why settle for something as tiny as the sky when there’s a whole universe out there waiting for us to explore? I’m talking about the vastness of our potential, the infinite possibilities for growth that are beyond what we can see with our eyes. The question became “Why are we still sitting on the ground, settling for what we think is the best we can do?”

It made me realize that the sky—this idea of limitless possibility—has become a bit of a trap. It’s still a limit. Even if we do reach for it, we might still fall short of understanding the infinite potential that exists beyond it. And I get it—reaching for anything beyond our comfort zone is scary. Trust me, I’ve been there. But this is about more than just reaching for success or growth. It’s about fully embracing the limitless possibilities within you that have been waiting to unfold all along.

Evolving: The Ground Is Only a Starting Point

So, I ask you this: How many times have you felt “stuck” in your life? You know, like you were sitting on the ground watching others soar, maybe wondering why you couldn’t just take off and fly. It’s easy to get caught in the cycle of doubt, but here’s the thing: If we only look up to the sky, we’re still holding ourselves back. There’s no end to your potential unless you decide that you’ve hit the “ceiling.” And let me tell you, there’s no ceiling here—unless you build one for yourself. It’s all about evolution, baby.

At different stages of my life, I’ve found myself asking this question over and over again: Why would I settle for staying on the ground when there’s so much more waiting for me? And guess what? Each time that question pops into my head, I find new answers, new growth, and new understanding. It’s like peeling back the layers of an onion—the more I shed, the more I realize how much more there is to uncover. And isn’t that the beauty of growth? There’s always room to stretch, always room to evolve.

When I came up with this quote as a teen, I had no idea just how deep it would go. But now, in my 40s, I look at it with fresh eyes. I realize that it’s not just about getting off the ground—it’s about lifting yourself up into the vast, beautiful sky and then saying, “Okay, what’s beyond this?”

A Challenge for You, Beautiful One

So, here’s the million-dollar question that I pose to you, my dear friend: Why would you choose to stay on the ground when you know there’s so much beauty and potential out there? We are not our circumstances, not our mistakes, and definitely not our limitations. We are limitless beings, designed for expansion, evolution, and growth.

Take a moment to reflect on your life. Are you limiting yourself to the sky? Is there more for you to achieve, more for you to become, and more for you to explore? Don’t let fear or doubt keep you from reaching beyond the clouds. Remember, your journey is yours to shape, and the sky is just the beginning of where you can go.

Conclusion

So, beautiful ones, I challenge you to look beyond the sky. You’re capable of more than you think. The question is no longer about whether or not you can fly, it’s about how far you’re willing to go. I believe in you. And remember, as always, I love you. 💙
